The MTN Solution Space was born out of the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business through a partnership with the MTN Group in 2015, as a living laboratory for the development and testing of real solutions to real problems that matter to real people in Africa.
African pioneering is in our roots through our parent brands - the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business (UCT GSB) was one of the first business schools in Africa and is part of South Africa’s most influential research university. The MTN Group has advanced the delivery of networks to some of Africa’s most remote territories and is the continents biggest and most extensive mobile operator. The MTN Solution Space embodies the DNA of its parent brands: emerging market orientation, innovation and leadership. Together this partnership represents an opportunity to deliver promising solutions to scale on the continent.

When our youth are empowered with the right skills to innovate and create solutions, they unlock the opportunities for new businesses that will drive our economies forward. This is why we support these young innovators, founders, next generation coders and digital creatives.
In 2012 mLab Southern Africa launched as a mobile technology accelerator with the aim of supporting innovative new startups and to unlock the mobile apps economy.
