The Amy Biehl Foundation is a non-profit organisation that offers programmes to develop and empower youth (5 – 18 years of age) living in the challenged and vulnerable communities within the Western Cape. There are huge inadequacies in the schools in which we work, creating a great need for our programmes. The programmes place a focus on the creative side of the child’s brain, and supplement the shortcomings of the educational system in the townships of South Africa.

Akhona Mngqibisa\'s new job at 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa

"My name is Akhona, and I'm 21 years old. I grew up in Guguletu. I first engaged with the Amy Biehl Foundation 8 years back. I was involved in many activities within the foundation which kept my mind focused, and my body busy. I joined the culinary course with Hilary George who was in charge of building our confidence for the world of work. Time flew very fast and after I finished the programmes I was given the opportunity to work at the 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa in Camps Bay. I started out in the housekeeping department, but I was soon promoted to doorman which is still my job today. I love welcoming guests, making them feel at home, and ensuring they have a good stay. Thanks to Amy Biehl and The 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa!"
